Dear Gdad, I truly smile when I think back to times spent together in the time I knew you. I met you through Nathalie, and the ‘healthy competitive rivalry’ in sporting competitions on several occasions between you two I’ll never forget, as much as the banter in the build up / post event analysis that unfolded every time with exceptional humour and wit. The night before the Blenheim Palace Cycle, tucking into that buffet in the Faulty Towers style accommodation, sitting on the balcony overlooking the sea at Nice after the half marathon, taking in the mountain air in Austria after that run are all highlights. Then there’s the 40th birthday karaoke extravaganza, the fancy dress party you hosted, and as for that Edinburgh festival evening well that truly was something else. I am so sad that we didn’t get to keep you for longer, but am comforted by the knowledge you found Jenny and have made such a positive, long lasting impression on so many people. I know your memory will live on and that we’ll continue to reminisce for years to come. You are sorely missed but may you rest in peace x
